Sometimes the things that are unknown captivate us and intrigue us. At Chemical Guys we cultivate the unknown and innovate it into the best products in the industry. We are always about our products and our customers first - we deliver the best to the best. On occasion, we meet car collectors or enthusiasts that not only become lifelong customers, but lifelong friends that inspire us to create amazing products. Project J97 was born from a request from a Chemical Guys friend in Japan, Mr. Miyazaki. Mr. Miyazaki's car collection contains vehicles that are considered priceless – meaning money could never replace them. All of these cars are detailed using Chemical Guys products. On a trip to Japan, we actually had the opportunity to meet with him and view his collection when he made a simple request - produce the best product we possibly could and consider money no object. He said, “Cars are like toys. Life may possibly go on without them, but if it did, it just wouldn’t be the same. Anything worth doing is worth doing right and in complete excess.” His words resonated with us and set forth with a vision for this product that was similar to the passion we have for cars: “If you are going to drive a car, drive it fast. Make it scream – let’s see what she’s got. Punch that gas pedal to the floor so you can feel its heartbeat as you race in and out of the canyons. Remember, if you don’t live for the now, you are not living.”

 

J97 - Why the Name?
Most people don’t believe us when we say that it took 97 different formulations before we came up with what we believe was the vision that Mr. Miyazaki set forth – the best product we could make with price being no object but it did. Different formulations, different ingredients, different processes – 97 times which led to Project J97. When we were testing formulations, we sent samples to friends and customers in 50 countries throughout the world…the first one was to Mr. Miyazaki in Japan, therefore the “J”. When given a challenge we take it seriously, and we wanted a product that when used by others, not only made their car look unbelievable, but also made them feel like this was the best wax that money could buy. 

 


J97 - What Makes This Wax So Good?
So through our 97 different formulations it quickly became evident that the product needed to be produced from the finest ingredients on Earth. At its core, is a pure white Brazilian Carnauba. Without disclosing too much to our competitors, Project J97 has more carnauba than any of our other products. The formulation is more than just the carnauba though. We used an unheard of 9 stage filtering process on the wax along with a proprietary blend of rare oils from around the world and an Aerospace-based sealant to extend the products durability. We use the most refined raw ingredients that produce an absolutely stunning shine like no other. Project J97 will make your paint look smooth and glossy with a protective layer that will make water bead and sheet like no other. Top it with additional layers for unmatched protection and durability. Durability is based on climate and care you place on your vehicle, however you should expect 6 to 12 months of protection. Project J97 is 100% made in the USA in limited runs to insure each product meets the strictest of quality standards. 

 


The Container
If we were going to set out to make the best wax that money could buy, we certainly weren’t going to just put it in a plastic jar (that’s not our style). We set out to make something revolutionary. Another CG friend who is a designer and professional motorcycle racer brought the concept of fashioning the jar to resemble a motorcycle clutch box cover. The design, which was modeled after the cover on his favorite race bike, is a symmetrical design, designed perfectly to house the detailers fingers, anchoring a firm grip on the jar. The face of the jar features numerous lines, machined out of a solid aluminum block, symbolizing the many roads of life. The polished Chemical Guys skull logo grinning on the front gives way to the lifestyle that is Chemical Guys, much like the worldwide family of Chemical Guys detailers around the world, Project J97 is fueled by passion. The front also houses four aircraft bolts that need to be unscrewed to unlock the airtight Project J97 canister. This mechanism will keep your product safe, air tight and contamination free for as long as you own the product. The container itself, which has been nominated for several industrial design awards, is a work of art…much like the vehicles the product is used on.
